Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was forced to hide in the bathroom on the final day of the World Test Championship (WTC) match against India. He had to do so due to the tension and nervousness created during the chase of New Zealand’s target.

Jamieson, who was the man of the match for his 7 wickets in the final, was terrified after seeing the match in the dressing room. Jamieson told ‘Country Sport Breakfast’ on ‘Gold AM’, ‘It was probably the toughest period of cricket I’ve been a part of,’ in terms of watching.

He said, ‘We were sitting inside and actually watching TV. The live broadcast on television was delayed a few ( by a few seconds). The Indian spectators present in the field were making noise on every ball as if the wicket had fallen. It was a run or a dot ball though.

Captain Kane Williamson and experienced Ross Taylor, however, chased down the target of 139 to give New Zealand an 8-wicket win.

He said, ‘It was very difficult to watch. I actually tried several times to go to the bathroom where there was no noise, just got away from it for a while as it was getting too tense.

The tall fast bowler said, ‘But it was good to have Kane and Ross on the field. Our two greatest batsmen really controlled the situation and got their job done.

However, Jameson did not have enough time to celebrate the victory as he had to take the field again within 48 hours of the final.
