Vaccination : The centre today said that the coronavirus vaccine can be taken after three months of being recovered from coronavirus. If someone catches the virus after the first dose of vaccine, then the second dose can be delayed by 3 months.
Chief of Delhi’s AI-India institute of Medical Sciences Dr Randeep Guleria, in a conference held by him, suggested that a gap of four weeks should be there in such cases.
“Based on available real-life evidence, particularly from the United Kingdom, the COVID-19 Working Group has agreed to increase dosing interval between two doses of Covishield to 12-16 weeks. No change in intervals for Covaxin was recommended,” the government said in its statement.
This second extension in three months move drew criticism from the congress. The decision in this regard will have an impact of lakhs of people who have contracted the virus.
Today, India recorded 2.67 lakh cases and the overall count has gone up to 2.54 crore out of which the number of active cases is 1,27,046.
In last 24 hours, India recorded the highest one-day death ever seen by any country since the start of the pandemic. The country reported 4,529 deaths. Until before today, U.S. had registered 4,475 deaths in a day in January.
