One after the another, states with high cases of coronavirus are either imposing or extending their lockdown. Recently, Delhi extended its lockdown and then Haryana did the same. Now, Telangana government has announced to impose a 10-day lockdown that will begin from May 12, Wednesday. The decision was taken on Tuesday.
The relaxations are provided from 6 am to 10 am and the rest of the time, shops shall remain shut.
The previous week, Telangana CM had ruled out the imposition of a lockdown because he thought it would affect the livelihood of many people along with impacting the revenue of the state. Also, he said that those states with lockdown on did not see much difference in the situation of coronavirus.
However, with the pressure from quarters the government had to impose a lockdown. Except Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, all other southern states have already imposed a complete lockdown.
Before this, Telangana had been imposing night curfew for about two weeks. Now it has finally imposed lockdown.
The situation in the country is such that lockdown has become the only option. India had been reporting over 4 lac cases every day until Monday when the reported cases stood at 3.66 lacs. Depending on the rise of fall in cases in the future, the states may or may not extend their lockdown period.
