A scheme has been announced by Tata Steel in which if any of their employees die of Covid, they will give the last-drawn salary of that employee to his/her family till the time the employee would have retired, which means till they would have turned 60.

“Tata Steel’s best-in-class social security schemes will help ensure an honourable standard of living for their families, whereby the family will get the last drawn salary till 60 years of age of the deceased employee/nominee” said the company in a statement.

Also they mentioned that if a frontline employee gets infected and dies on job, the company will take care of all the expenses of their children till graduation.

“Tata Steel has taken the path of #AgilityWithCare by extending social security schemes to the family members of the employees affected by #COVID19. While we do our bit, we urge everyone to help others around them in any capacity possible to get through these tough times,” the Jamshedpur-based company said on Twitter while announcing the schemes.

This announcement has given a lot of praise and appreciation to the company on social media. Even during the time when Centre asked companies to ramp up production of oxygen, Tata steel was among some other companies that supplied tons of oxygen. Out of total 4,435 metric tonnes of oxygen supplied by steel plants, Tata supplied 1,154 MT.
