The beating of Corona has now reached the prison. Many prisoners in the prison are being found corona positive. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has given instructions in view of the crowd of prisoners in the jails. The Supreme Court has said that the prisoners who have been sentenced to a maximum of seven years should not be kept in jails for the time being. With this, the court has ordered that due to this pandemic, all the prisoners should get adequate medical facilities.
Let us tell you that even last year, the Supreme Court had ordered the release of the accused temporarily in cases with sentences of less than seven years. For which the order was constituted to constitute a High Powered Committee which was the responsibility of the Center and the State. Some of the prisoners were discharged on priority basis. Once again, the court identified such prisoners and left them on a temporary basis.
The Supreme Court has said that the prisoners who were discharged on parole last time should be given 90-day leave again.
The Supreme Court has said that it is difficult to have such a number of prisoners and to follow the rules. Along with this, orders have also been given that the prisoners and staff should be tested regularly and they should also be given medical help.
The court has also said that the prisoner who does not want to return home should be given more attention. And the prisoner who does not want to go out due to Corona, should be kept in mind inside the jail.
