Malinga played the last international match in the year 2020. He played his last international T20 match against West Indies on 6 March 2020. Malinga has played for the Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Mumbai Indians. And is the most successful bowler of this league.
He holds the record for taking the most wickets in this tournament. He has taken 170 wickets in 122 matches. His best performance has been taking five wickets for 13 runs. Malinga has also not been included in the 15-man squad that Sri Lanka selected for the T20 World Cup to be held in UAE and Oman this year.
