For now, only six states are able to start vaccinating people aged 18-44 as it is scheduled to kick start from Saturday. All other states have delayed the program because there is shortage of vaccine.
The states that have begun this exercise will only keep it for a few districts. These six states are Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujrat and Odisha.
Three lakhs doses of the vaccine Covishield were distributed on Friday evening in Maharashtra. The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that everybody in the state between 18-44 age will be vaccinated and the cost of it will be borne by the state.
20,000 doses each of the vaccines are going to Pune, Mumbai and Thane. The other districts of the state are given the doses between 3,000 and 10,000.
