Renowned former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar donated One crore rupees on Thursday for mission oxygen. This money will be used to procure oxygen concentrators for the COVID-19 patients as we are all aware of the shortage of oxygen caused by the second wave of the deadly coronavirus.
Sachin tweeted, “The second wave of COVID has put our health-care system under immense pressure. Providing oxygen for the large number of serious COVID patients is the need of the hour,” Tendulkar wrote on his twitter handle.
It is heartening to see how people are rising to the occasion. A group of 250+ young entrepreneurs have launched Mission Oxygen to raise funds. For importing oxygen concentrators and donating them to hospitals across the country.
I’ve helped by contributing to the cause and hope that their effort soon reaches out to many more hospitals across India.
Your support when I was playing was invaluable and helped me succeed. Today, we have to stand together behind everyone that is working hard to fight this pandemic.”
Many cricketers have been lately coming forward to do their part in this pandemic. Pat Cummins donated 50,000 UDS so that Indian hospitals can purchase oxygen supply. Recently, Brett Lee also donated one bitcoin for the same purpose.
Apart from them, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi capitals also contribute 7.5 crore and 1.5 crore respectively to support India fight against this pandemic.
