Punjab government extends the lockdown till June 10 in the state. This lockdown was going to end on May 31st which now has been extended, with some relaxations.
One relaxation that is provided is removal of restriction on the number of passengers in a vehicle. Punjab still requires people to have a negative Covid-19 reports, not more than 72-hour old, or a vaccination certificate when entering the state from the outside.
Punjab reported 3914 new cases on Thursday and 178 deaths, which takes the total number of cases to 5,56,089 and the number of deaths caused by Covid-19 to 14,004.
Here is a list of the things that are allowed and the ones that are not.
- All educational institutions shall remain closed. However, the teaching and non-teaching staff of government schools are to attend duty. Also, all the recruitment exams will be postponed.
- Pillion riding on scooters and motorcycles shall not be allowed except for those belonging to the same family / living in the same house.
- All shops selling non-essential items to remain shut. Those dealing in medicines and essential items such as, milk products, bread, vegetables, fruits, poultry products and mobile repair will be allowed.
The number of active cases in the state dropped from 53,127 to 50,549. The positivity rate is 5.44 per cent.
