The only athlete who has won back to back Olympic medals in an individual sport, Sushil Kumar has been named in an FIR about a brawl that led to the death of a wrester in north Delhi.
The 23-old wrester was beaten to death and two of his friends were injured. This happened in the Chhatrasal Stadium that is situated in the northern part of the national capital.
Police says that the brawl happened between Sushil Kumar, Prince. Sonu, Ajay, Sagar, Amit and others in the parking area of the stadium.
“We are probing the role of Sushil Kumar as allegations have been made against him. Then we sent our team to his house but he was found to be missing. We are looking for him. Several teams have been formed to trace the accused persons,” Additional DCP (north-west) Dr Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said.
“The deceased was identified as Sagar Kumar, son of a Delhi Police Head Constable, and the injured have been identified as Sonu Mahal (35) and Amit Kumar (27). We have registered an FIR and arrested one Prince Dalal (24), and seized a double-barrel gun from the spot,” DCP Sidhu said.
The 37-year old, Sushil Kumar is the second Indian to win an Olumpic medal after Khasahaba Jadhav in 1952. The first medal he won was Bronze and four years after winning his first Olympic Medal, Sushil won Silver medal.
