In many states of India, the price of petrol has either touched or passed Rupees 100. Everybody seems to be complaining about it. BUt why would they not when they know that crude oil isn’t even that expensive right now. And still they are having to pay such a high price for something that they need every day.

Even during the lockdown when even the International market fell and yet petrol prices didn’t face a fall. The price of the crude oil had fallen to half of their value but the end-user was still having to pay around 75 rupees per liter for petrol.

Petrol prices in India have gone through the roof.

While there may be many factors involved for the sky-rocketed prices of this fuel, PM Modi blames the previous government for this. He says that these high prices are product of the over-dependence on the imports shown by the previous government. PM Modi, without referring to the increase in the fuel price. And said that India had to import 85% of its total need of petrol and 53% of its gas needs last year.

Whereas, the opposition party claims that it is happening because of the rise in tax by PM Modi to benefit from the international oil rates.

There have been many reactions and statements made by many people. But just like every other time, the middle-class people are suffering the most. And can do nothing but to keep suffer.
