India vs England 1st Nottingham Test has been drawn. The rain not only spoiled the fun of the game, but also snatched a win from India. It was expected that India would win this match on the fifth day. Only 157 runs were needed. But the rain did not give the game a chance to start and the match was called off on the drop. Now both the teams are going to set their focus on the second Test.
This first Test match proved to bring many dramatic turns. This was a great example of what a Test match should actually be like. Rarely has there been an occasion when it seems that only one team is dominant and this match is going one-sided. Bets were placed for victory from both the sides and their steps towards that side were also seen.
In the first innings of the first Test, England were all out for 183 runs. After this, India also batted, but the performance was not very strong. India could make 278 in reply to 183 and they had a lead of only 95 runs. After this, England’s retaliation was better than expected, but they could not make much headway.
In England’s second innings, Captain Root scored a century while playing a brilliant innings. Due to that century, England’s personal score reached 304 runs and India got the target of 209. It is also important to know here that the credit for stopping England at 304 goes to Bumrah, who took five wickets while bowling amazingly.
After this India started batting to win the match. A solid start was also found and by the end of the fourth day’s play, 52 runs were scored for the loss of one wicket. But such was the fate of India, their score got stuck here and the rain did not give the match a chance to start on the fifth day. Now the second test is going to start from August 12, where blood and sweat will be united to win again.
