Nikita Kaul joined the army on Saturday, following in the footsteps of her husband Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal (Maj Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal), who was martyred in Pulwama. Lieutenant General YK Joshi, Commander of the Army’s Northern Command, placed stars on his shoulders at the Officers’ Training Academy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Defense Ministry has shared a video.
At the same time, Nitika Kaul said in the passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, I have experienced the same journey that he has gone through. I believe that he is always going to be a part of my life.
Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhaundiyal received Veergati while fighting the terrorists in Pulwama, Jammu Kashmir and he was awarded the Shaurya Chakra (posthumously) for his sacrifice for the nation.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Defense, Udhampur, shared a brief video of the ceremony on the official Twitter handle. PRO Udhampur tweeted, “Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhaundiyal, who sacrificed his life in Pulwama, was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra. Paying the best tribute to him, his wife Nikita Kaul wore an army uniform today. It will be a proud moment for him as Army Commander Lt YK Joshi placed stars on his shoulder.
