New Indian Vaccine called Zydus Cadila; here is what to need to know

Zydus Cadila, an Indian company, has got the approval for using its corona vaccine for emergency from Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). It is being said that this vaccine is safe for children and another unique thing is that it can be given without the help of a needle, reducing the chances of side effects.

All three trial phases of Zydus Cadila are done and in the last phase, 28,000 people participated, making it the largest trial in India of any vaccine and the result were also positive. It was tested during the second wave and therefore, believed to be effective on Delta variant.

This is a needleless vaccine. It is filled in a needleless injection, put in a machine and then applied on arm. After that by clicking the button, the medicine goes inside the body.

Another thing is that this vaccine doesn’t need too low temperature to be kept. This vaccine has good thermostability. So far, due to the lack of cold chain vaccine was being wasted but there will be no hassle of that anymore.

Zydus Cadila is also plasmid based and it works by enhancing antigen-specific immunity and as said before it needs only 2-8 temperature to be stored.

This was also the first vaccine of India whose trial has been done on children aged between 12 and 18.
