Indian women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain created history by winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Lovlina is the third boxer from India to win a medal in the Olympic Games. Before him, Vijender Singh had won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and MC Mary Kom in the 2012 London Olympics.
She had to work hard for the place Lovlina has reached today, as well as listen to the taunts of the society. After winning the bronze medal, Lovlina said, ‘We are three sisters. People used to say that my parents must have made some mistake in the previous birth, due to which they got a girl. Then when I came into boxing, people used to talk a lot.
This boxer, who created history in the Olympics, said that our journey was difficult. I gave up many things for boxing. I can’t eat what I like and I think my game will be affected. From childhood till today I have not gone anywhere. I want to go, but I don’t. I think that there is no problem in my game.
Lovlina said that my mother’s health was bad, but due to the preparations for the Olympics, I was not able to meet her either. He was to be operated upon, was to be with him at that time but I could not stay.
Borgohain said after the match, ‘It’s not looking good. I worked hard for the gold medal so it is disappointing.’ She said, ‘I could not execute my strategy. She was very powerful. I thought playing on the back foot would hurt, so I became aggressive, but it didn’t work.
She said, ‘I wanted to attack his confidence, but it didn’t happen. She was very agile.’ He said, ‘I have worked hard for this medal for eight years. I stayed away from home, away from family and didn’t eat my favorite food. But I don’t think anyone should do that. I used to think that if I do anything wrong then the game will be affected.
Lovlina, who started her career in boxing nine years ago, has also won World Championship bronze twice. Preparation for the Olympics was not easy for her as she could not go to Europe for practice due to Corona infection.
