Former Managing Director of automobile company Maruti Suzuki, Jagdish Khattar passed away on Monday at the age of 78. He suffered from a heart attack.
Jagdish was born in present-day Pakistan. He completed his education from DU and became an IAS. Also He served different administrative posts in UP and PSUs. Jagdish Khattar also served as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Steel before he started working as a Director of Marketing in Maruti Udyog in 1993.
Later he became the MD in 1999. Company launched hugely successful models such as Alto and Swift under his leadership. He retired in 2007 from Maruti Suzuki and embarked on his entrepreneurial journey when he started an automobile sales and services company called ‘Carnation’. Recently, Carnation became a part of MFA (Mahindra First Choice) when it took acquisition of its key assets.
Khattar will surely be remembered for his contributions to the company that proved to be highly profitable for Maruti Suzuki. He was an invaluable part of this company.
