We all have been in a situation where somebody just keeps offering you the food and you just can’t refuse and end up eating too much. Then suffering to digest that food. It also gives you problems if it goes undigested. So, is refusing to eat the solution? Sure, but the thing is that we usually can’t.

The person just feels bad about it and we don’t really want to hurt their feeling. Do try to refuse to whatever extent it is possible, but if the damage is done then here is something you can do.

Usually, it’s said that you should walk. Its help your digestive system in the process. However, that depends on whether you have had a lunch or dinner.

Lunch (digest a heavy meal)

In case of lunch, you shouldn’t do much. Have a piece of jiggery first because it has digestive enzymes that help digest the food. After that, simply rest and let your stomach do its job. Working in anyway will just interfere with its work and cause you problems.

After an hour or so, you can take a walk but don’t walk too fast. Keep a steady pace and help your food pass the stomach. All of this will make sure you digest what you have eaten.

Dinner (digest a heavy meal)

In case of dinner, going to bed right after a meal isn’t something you want to do unless you want to be diseased.  After having the dinner, take a walk outside. Go roam freely without counting the steps and looking at the time.

After some time, you will feel like the food has started to settle down and you won’t feel too full anymore. When you should return home and sit in Vajrasana, which is known to boost digestion. Sit for as long as you can and only then you should consider sleeping, that too on your left side.

Bottom line

So, here were the ways which can help you a great deal in digesting a heavy meal. However, just because you can do them doesn’t mean you should often have a heavy meal. Eat-in limits and stay healthy. Give your stomach some space every now and then.
