Headache, fatigue and shortness of breath for months, this is the real reason for long covid

Even after recovering from corona, many people have symptoms for months. In medical language, it is called Long Covid. Scientists from Germany’s Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine have done a study to find out the reason for Long covid. Researchers say that the change in blood cells explains why so many patients are suffering from long covid.

Researchers found that the virus changes the rigid shape of red and white blood cells. This makes it difficult for oxygen and nutrients to reach around the body. The study found that these changes of blood cells in the body of some people persist for months when they have corona.

Researchers say that the symptoms of long covid are seen due to obstruction in the flow of oxygen. Due to which many patients have breathing problems, fatigue and headache for months. These changes in blood cells also explain why some corona patients are facing problems like blood clotting or some organ damage.

Researchers analyzed blood samples from now and earlier corona patients and compared it with healthy volunteers. Researchers found poor blood circulation, limited amount of oxygen and blood clots in volunteers with corona.

This study, published in the Biophysical Journal, states that in all these cases, it was found that blood cells and their physical properties play an important role. The scientists measured the size of red and white blood cells through a microscopic camera and analyzed the data on a computer.

Researchers found a difference in the size of red blood cells of corona patients. These red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to the body. Researchers believe that due to this, the blood becomes thicker which makes it difficult for oxygen to reach around the body.
