Harleen’s mother Charanjit Kaur told in a conversation with BBC Punjabi that Harleen was fond of sports since childhood. Although no one in Charanjit’s family had any special connection with sports, Harleen was very active in sports and she used to play football as a child.
Charanjit Kaur said that Harleen used to play football with boys from the age of 4 and she was also chosen as the best player of football in Mohali. However, at the age of eight, Harleen turned to cricket and to improve her game, she joined the Girls Cricket Academy, Dharamsala.
