The Taliban may have declared the end of the war in Afghanistan with the proclamation of their victory, but the horrifying pictures of this tragedy are constantly coming to the fore. Fearing the return of Taliban rule, thousands of people from Afghanistan are running towards Kabul Airport. Even some people are risking their lives to flee from Afghanistan to take refuge in other countries.
A video is becoming increasingly viral on social media in which three people are seen hanging on the wheels of a plane that took off from Kabul airport. In the video, people hanging on the wheels of aircraft C-17 are seen falling on the roof of a house. Many people are also blaming America by sharing this clip. One user wrote, these pictures will continue to scare America. Due to the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, the Taliban got an opportunity to withdraw.
Another video is also going viral on social media. Tolo News has shared it with its Twitter handle. In this video people are seen running under the plane taking off. What would be a bigger tragedy than this is that the Afghans are ready to walk even in the shadow of death in order to fly for life.
According to the news agency Reuters, there is a stampede at Kabul Airport that so far five people have lost their lives. Thousands of people are trying to forcefully enter the plane. An eyewitness said that he saw the bodies of five people being carried in a vehicle. However, it is not clear whether he died of bullet injuries or a stampede at the airport. A US official told Al Jazeera that the US military, which is in charge of the airport, had fired in the air to disperse the crowd.
Kabul Airport Authority issued a statement saying, all commercial flights departing from Hamid Karzai Airport have been cancelled. This decision has been taken to prevent loot and stampede at the airport. The administration appealed to the people not to run towards the airport.
According to the report of Al Jazeera, the real crisis is visible in Kabul airport since the Taliban took power. Still the situation outside the airport is not that bad. Security forces have laid down weapons in most parts.
