A series of tragic events is being witnessed by the India lately. First, the second wave of new deadly variant of coronavirus shook the people. Then shortage of oxygen aggravated this issue. On the top of that, a few days ago, an oxygen tank leaked outside a hospital, leaving patients deprived of it and killing 24 patients who were either oxygen-dependent or on ventilators. Now, a fire broke out in a hospital. In Maharashtra, a hospital saw a fire breaking out in the Intensive Care Unit. This fire claimed the lives of 13 coronavirus patients.
Dilip Shah, CEO of Vijay Vallabh hospital said that the fire has been extinguished and those patients who were in an immediate need of oxygen have been moved to the nearby hospitals.
He also said that there are 90 patients in the hospital. The fire broke out on the second floor and the cause if still being investigated.
Hospitals all over the country are overwhelmed with the rising number of covid-19 patients and such an incident is stroking the fire of fear among people.
In last 24 hours, India recorded highest number of cases and deaths second day in a row. Total 332,730 new cases have been reported today, making the total caseload over 16 million. The number of deaths in last 24 hours is 2,263 and the total death number reaches 186,920.
