The effect of the Taliban’s rule on Afghanistan is starting to affect cricket as well. The ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan, starting from 3 September, has been postponed. This series was to be held in Sri Lanka.
In fact, due to the current situation in Afghanistan, commercial flights from Kabul have been canceled. The Afghanistan Cricket Board is facing a problem to send the team out.
According to Sportstar’s news, the CEO of the board, Hamid Shenwari, said, “We have mutually decided to postpone the tournament keeping in mind the condition and mental health of the players. It is not possible to organize the series in the current situation.
Hamid Shenwari further said that the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Sri Lankan Board had given a lot of support to help us host the series, but in the current situation it is not possible to organize it. Shenwari said that we have kept the ICC in the loop and will see a possible date before the 2023 World Cup.
PCB has accepted ACB's request to postpone next month’s ODI series due to players’ mental health issues, disruption in flight operations in Kabul, lack of broadcast facilities and increased Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka. Both boards will try to reschedule the series in 2022.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has said that it has accepted the request of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. Both the boards will try to reschedule the series in 2022.
At the same time, amidst the turmoil in Afghanistan, the board has also confirmed the team’s participation in the T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE in October. Unfortunately, this Asian country does not have a lot of competitive cricket to prepare for the tournament. Their T20 tri-series, which includes Australia and West Indies, is also unlikely to happen.
