Disha Ravi, accused in the toolkit case revealed by Greta Thunberg’s tweet, was released from Tihar Jail on Tuesday night. Patiala House Court granted bail to Disha Ravi.
While giving bail to Disha Ravi on personal bonds of 1 lakh and 2 surety amounts of 1 lakh each, Additional Judge Dharmendra Rana said that there is no criminal history of Disha.
Additional Judge Dharmendra Rana also said that “the citizens of any democratic country are to be seen by the government, they cannot be jailed because they do not agree with the government’s policies.”
The court said that for 5000 years our civilization respects the thoughts of everyone. The court said by saying a verse that “we have thoughts coming from all four, let them not be obstructed in any way and give information about unknown subjects.”
The additional judge said that the government could not put the case of treason on its broken pride. Disagreements and dislike of opinions are also valid ways of fairness in government policies. Healthy and prosperous citizens are the identity of democracy.
