IFFCO, manure producing and selling company is going to supply oxygen looking at the shortage of it throughout the country because of Covid. IFFCO is setting a plant that is capable of producing 200 cubic per hour. They will supply this oxygen to the hospital without any charge. Each cylinder that they will supply will have 46.7 liters of oxygen.
If need be, IFFCO’s factory will produce 700 big D-type and 300 medium B-type cylinders with medical-grade oxygen. Also, to help the nation through this tough times, IFFCO is planning to set up 3 more plants like this.
To get the oxygen, hospitals will be required to send their own empty cylinders and in case they do not have, cylinders will be supplied too. However, there will be a security amount for that. This has been decided to avoid unnecessary hoarding of cylinders by the hospitals.
The scarcity that Covid has caused of oxygen is being tried to be eliminated by both government and private companies. A few days ago, Reliance industries set a plant in Gujrat from where 100 tons of oxygen is being supplied to the Maharashtra government.
State-run company IPCAL also said that they will supply oxygen to Kerala from their plant. The plant situated in Kochi so that patients can be treated well.
It is estimated that around 7200 MT oxygen is being manufactured daily in our country right now. Half of this will be used for medical purposes and other half for industrial.
