Chhath Puja 2021 : It is the 4 days celebrated Hindus Festival of India just like Diwali ,the 5 days celebration of Hindus Festival.
The people of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Nepal are celebrated this day.
It is also known as Surya Shashti, Chhath, Chhathi, Chhath Parv, Dala Puja, and Dala Chhath.The devotees worship Lord Sun and his wife Usha on this day to promote well-being, prosperity and progress.
The preparation for Chhath Puja begins a day after Diwali as people start eating only Satvik food (without onion, garlic), prepare meals with great hygiene and eat only after taking a bath.
Rock salt is used to make the prasad.
Devotees gather and take a holy dip in rivers, ponds, and other water bodies during the four-day festivities.
In this festival, women keep a ‘Nirjala’ fast for 36-hour and worship Surya Dev (Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya.

This year Chhath Puja is on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Shashthi Tithi begins at 10:35 on November 9, 2021, and ends at 8:25 on November 10, 2021.

Chhath Puja 2021: Four days celebration of Chhath Puja
- Chhath Puja Day 1 (Nahay-Khay) – Monday, November 8, 2021


The 1st day of Chhath Puja is known as ‘Nahay-Khay or kaddu bhaat’. On this day, those who want to keep the Chhath Puja vrat wake up early in the morning and worship Lord Surya first and then only eat food. Kaddu bhaat is offered as food on this day.
- Chhath Puja Day 2 (Kharna) – Tuesday, November 9, 2021


The 2nd day of Chhath Puja is known as ‘Kharna’. On this day, people fast for the whole day, and in the evening, rice Kheer with jaggery and roti is made and offered to the gods. Those who keep Chhath vrat will eat the Chhath Puja Kharna prasad and will keep fasting for the next two days.Roti/poori and rice kheer are prepared prasad .
- Chhath Puja Day 3 (Sandhya Arghya) – Wednesday, November 10, 2021


The 3rd day of Chhath Puja is known as ‘Sandhya Arghya’. On this day, people gather in rivers, ponds, and other water bodies to offer Sandhya Arghya ( evening offerings) to the Lord Sun and his wife Usha. This day belongs to a full day fast till next day without water.
- Chhath Puja Day 4 (Usha Arghya) – Thursday, November 11, 2021


The 4th and last day of Chhath Puja is known as ‘Usha Arghya’ day. On this day, people visit nearby rivers, ponds, and other water bodies to offer Usha Arghya (morning offerings) to the Lord Sun and his wife Usha.
The Usha Arghya completes the festivities of Chhath Puja. Those who keep 36hours long, especially ladies fasting, break their fast after taking Chhath Puja Prasad.
History
Chhath Puja is believed to be an ancient festival and is even mentioned in Rig Veda .
It is said that in ancient times, Draupadi and the Pandavas of Hastinapur used to celebrate Chhath. A few mantras from the Rig Veda are also chanted by worshippers while offering prayers to the Lord Sun.
