Due to Corona, there are restrictions  everywhere, now the same has come for banks. Banks have to work everyday and continuously, due to which many employees are getting corona. Many have also lost their lives because of this, there is a demand from the employees’ unions of the banks that the banks should be open for only 3 to 4 hours.

Banks are included in essential services due to which even if there is a lockdown in this area and bank are open in the same area. For this reason, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the federation of bank employees, has expressed concern that bank branches are becoming hotspots in Corona.

What did the banks union say

The union has demanded that till the situation does not improve. the necessary services should be continued in the banks and the work period should be reduced to 3 to 4 hours daily.

Bank unions have demanded from the Indian Banks Association (IBA), the organization of the banking industry, that in order to protect the employees from the infection of coronavirus, it is necessary that the bank should remain open for only 3 to 4 hours. UFBU has written this letter to Debashish Panda, Secretary, Financial Services, Ministry of Finance and the Indian Banks Association.

According to PTI “Rajan Kiran Rai, Chairman of the Indian Banks Association has also acknowledged that the branches which are having frequent customers and more contact at the counter, there is a possibility of becoming Corona Hub.

The union has also said that some cluster bank branches should be identified everywhere where customers are more in number. Duty should be on the rotation basis.
