Increasing coronavirus cases are demanding the states to extend their lockdowns and curfews. Recently, Delhi extended its lockdown and Punjab extended its restrictions. Now, the Andhra Pradesh government extended their already going curfew till the end of this month to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
The Andhra Pradesh had a half-day curfew imposed since May 5 which now will continue till May end. The shops and business establishments were allowed to open for half of the day, starting from 6 am to 12 pm.
In the last 24 hours, India recorded 2,81,386 new Covid-19 cases. It is the first time that the reported cases have fallen below the 3-lakh mark in last 25 days. However, the deaths reported were 4,106, taking the death toll up to 2,74,390. The number of active cases have gone down to 3,516,997 from 3,618,458, which is the biggest one-day drop.
Meanwhile, the first batch of Anti-covid drug 2DG, developed by DRDO, has been released on Monday by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh and health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
