The online streaming platform, Amazon Prime will no longer provide the monthly plan to its users in India. The plan that earlier costed Rs. 129 and was valid for 1 month has been discontinued. Now it only offers two subscription plans: for 3 months and 1 year.
The company removed the one-month plan, following the RBI guidelines. These new guidelines that require banks and payments platforms to incorporate an additional factor of authentication (AFA) for processing recurring online transactions. All the banking and payment-processing companies must implement these by September 30 of this year.
Now if new users register for Amazon Prime. They will not see 1-month free trial plan and neither will they get one-month plan. The streaming platform now only shows two plans. The 3-month plans, which costs 329 ruppes and 1-year plan, costing 999 INR.
Another update from Amazon is that they have recently launched a new free video streaming service in India called ‘miniTV’. This is free of cost and supported by ads.
A statement said, “miniTV has professionally created and curated content across web-series, comedy shows, tech news, food, beauty, fashion and more…With the launch of miniTV, Amazon.In shopping app is now a single destination for customers to shop from millions of products, make payments and watch free entertainment videos.”
