With all the negativity surrounding the country caused by Covid, there is some positive news about a renowned freedom fighter HS Doreswamy. The 103-year-old man recovers beat Covid-19 and got discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
“I developed symptoms five days ago, but there were no complications as such. Yet, I decided to get admitted because I have respiratory problems. Now, I am getting discharged,” the centenarian said on Wednesday.
He was admitted in a government-run hospital called Sri Jayadeva institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. Sources say that his treatment was personally monitored by the director of the Jayadeva institute Dr C.N. Manjunath, who is also the son-in-law of former PM.
Let us tell you something about HS Doreswamy. His full name is Harohalli Srinivasiah Doreswamy and he was born on April 10, 1918. He took part in Quit India movement when freedom struggle was going on and was jailed for 14 months, starting in 1943.
He was a Gandhi follower and also participated in the Mysuru Chalo movement which was about compelling Mysuru Maharaja to accede to the Indian state post-independence.
From the central college in Bengaluru, he completed bachelor of science and went into teaching profession. Later he brought his own newspaper called Pauravani as he wanted to try journalism. It would be completely right to say that he was and still is an inspiration to many people. Especially now that he showed his fighting skills by defeating the Covid-19.
